Twofold World

Pairing/Character: Nagi

Numbers flickered across the screen--10110, on, off, on, on, off. Switching hidden locks with ease that shouldn’t have been so. Too easy, he thought as he watched the keys clicking, too boring.

Computers were simple. They didn’t judge, didn’t get too close, didn’t ask anything of a person. He liked that. The words scrolled across the screen, his eyes scanning as they flew by, looking for the information he was to find. He could loose himself in the task, his mind less likely to ponder the binary nature of his own life as the numbers flowed and ebbed on the monitor. At moments like this he would forget, as he was absorbed in the work assigned him no longer the teen-aged assassin, the youngest of his team, the everyday ‘normal’ kid everyone either saw too much of or overlooked completely. Here he was in control and necessary, none of the others could do this. It was his moment. And at moments like this, away from everyone, alone in his own world--he could smile.
